Matildas Sam Kerr ends relationship with US footballer Nikki Stanton

The high-profile romance between Matildas superstar Sam Kerr and her glamorous American girlfriend is reportedly over.

Kerr, 27, reportedly decided to end the relationship ahead of the Olympics but has kept the break-up quiet during the lead-up to the games, The Saturday Telegraph reported.

She had been dating fellow footballer Nikki Stanton for almost seven years after meeting when they were teammates in the United States.

But in recent years Kerr has been based in the UK, playing for Chelsea in the Women’s Super League.

Stanton has remained in the US and is a midfielder for the Chicago Red Stars.

In what may be the clearest signal of their relationship status, they have unfollowed each other on social media.

There is already speculation around Kerr and whether she has already moved on.

Following her hard-fought bronze medal game with the Matildas on Thursday against the US, in which the team narrowly missed out in a 4-3 thriller, she was comforted by American rival, Kristie Mewis.

Meanwhile Stanton has been reminding Kerr what she’s missing out on, posting a sizzling bikini snap on Instagram last month.
